Revision Help

At KiLearn to study smarterp McGrath Craigavon, parents often tell us of their frustration and worry about their teenage children and their looming exams. Are they studying? What studying are they doing? Is it going to do any good?

Students themselves ask us how to revise and how to organise their revision while many feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start.

This is why we have decided to run a special 'Study Skills' course which is designed to guide teenagers through the process of planning, organising and getting down to effective revision.

The 10 week programme will run from February to April to give students time to implement their learning in the run up to summer exams. Students will have a tutor who will also act as a study mentor to encourage weekly progress in the run up to exams.

The weekly sessions will teach students how to:
  • Create a positive study environment
  • Manage time effectively
  • Set realistic goals and achieve them
  • Motivate themselves to want to learn
  • Find their learning and revision style
  • Concentrate to avoid procrastination and distraction
  • Make effective notes
  • Overcome exam anxiety and learn strategies for exam success
  • Organise revision
  • Manage stress

Students will be given some practical homework and some thinking homework and will be asked to share their progress with their tutor each week.
